India (Hindi: à¤à¤¾à¤°à¤¤ BhÄrat; see also other names), officially the Republic of India (Hindi: à¤à¤¾à¤°à¤¤à¥€à¤¯ गणराजà¥à¤¯ BhÄratiya GaṇarÄjya), is a country in South Asia. It is the seventh largest country by geographical area, the second most populous country, and the most populous democracy in the world. Bounded by the Indian Ocean on the south, the Arabian Sea on the west, and the Bay of Bengal on the east, India has a coastline of 7,517 kilometers (4,671 mi).[Kumar et al. 2006, p. 531] It borders Pakistan to the west;[Footnote: The Government of India also considers Afghanistan to be a bordering country. This is because it considers the entire state of Jammu and Kashmir to be a part of India including the portion bordering Afghanistan. A ceasefire sponsored by the United Nations in 1948 froze the positions of Indian and Pakistani held territory. As a consequence, the region bordering Afghanistan is in Pakistan-administered territory.] China, Nepal, and Bhutan to the north-east; and Bangladesh and Burma to the east. In the Indian Ocean, India is in the vicinity of Sri Lanka, Maldives, and Indonesia. This article is licensed under the GNU Free Documentation License. It uses material from Wikipedia

Jana Gana Mana (Thou Art the Ruler of the Minds of All People) is the National Anthem of India, which has been excerpted from the poem written by Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore in the Bengali Language.
A formal rendition of the National Anthem takes approximately 52 seconds. A short version with only the first and last lines (approx 20 seconds) is also played occasionally.

English Translation
Thou art the ruler of the minds of all people, dispenser of India's destiny. Thy name rouses the hearts of Punjab, Sindhu, Gujarat and Maratha, of the Dravida and Orissa (Utkala) and Bengal; It echoes in the hills of the Vindyas and Himalayas, mingles in the music of Jamuna and Ganga and is chanted by the waves of the Indian Sea. They pray for thy blessings and sing thy praise. The saving of all people waits in thy hand, thou dispenser of India's destiny. Victory, victory, victory to thee.
